Gabriela "Gaby" Alanis

My Story

Fiercely competitive, Gaby likes to joke that it only took her 2 ½ years to finish law school, while it took the rest of the team three. Born and raised in Laredo, Texas, Gaby pursued her undergraduate and law degrees at the University of St. Mary’s in San Antonio. Aside from successfully completing law school in 2½ years, Gaby also impressively worked over 100 pro bono hours during her first and most demanding year of law school.  Gaby volunteered her hours at the St. Mary’s Immigration Clinic. There she assisted clients with completing their DACA applications and navigating the application process.

Having graduated early while also serving her community, it goes without saying that Gaby knows the meaning of hard work and perseverance. She knew from an early age that she wanted to advocate for others. Gaby’s passion for advocacy led her to the Hidalgo County District Attorney’s Office, where she served our community as a First Chair Assistant District Attorney in the 275th Judicial District Court. Once there, Gaby pursued justice in all her cases. Gaby likes to credit her exceptional negotiation skills to the time she spent at the D.A.’s office.

After her work with the District Attorney, Gaby transitioned to civil defense. She thrives on successfully defending individuals and companies entangled in complicated litigation. Gaby possesses a specialized focus on defending medical professionals. She has experience representing doctors before the Texas Medical Board, and doctors faced with overpayment audits.

In her free time, Gaby enjoys all things true crime! She does not miss an episode of Dateline, the Crime Junkie podcast, and Anatomy of Murder podcast. Gaby and her husband have two boys, who keep them busy with cars, dinosaurs, and plenty of outdoor activities.
